Fitness For The Ages Nutrition & Coaching

55 or older? Want to Stay Strong and Sharp as You Age?

We can’t stop aging. But we can take steps to age in health.
Did you know that adopting just five lifestyle factors could add years to your life?1
Really!
They are:
  • Maintaining a healthy bodyweight
  • Staying physically active
  • Eating a high-quality diet
  • Moderating alcohol intake
  • Not smoking1
These are general recommendations. You've probably heard them all before. You may even have tried to adopt them on your own with varying degrees of success. Imagine how much more effective it would be to have the what and the how personally tailored to you. To your unique needs. Your body. Your dietary preferences. Your lifestyle. Your current health. Your goals and desires.
Without trying to navigate the process on your own. Without being taken down by the factors standing in your way. Without getting derailed by the conveniences and distractions of modern day life.

Nutrition

You've gotten older. Physically things aren't working as well as they used to. You have pain. Or stiffness. You've been diagnosed with a condition or disease. Inflammation. Sarcopenia. Osteoporosis. Issues with blood sugar regulation. Maybe you just can't do the things you used to do. Perhaps you feel you're not as mentally sharp as you used to be. Or others have noticed changes in your cognition, in your mental abilities.

You may have a relative with cognitive decline or neurodegenerative disease and you want to take steps to keep your own brain healthy.

It might be aging hasn't gone exactly as you planned. Or you want to take steps early to ensure that it does. You intend to remain active, healthy, strong, independent, sharp. To enjoy the rest of your life as much as possible.

You want to age healthfully but you're not sure how. There's so much conflicting information out there. How do you know what sources can be trusted?

I get it. I've been there myself. Maybe you've been told to change your diet. "Eat better." But how exactly do you go about it? How do you make it work specifically for you?

That's where I come in, and we work together to tailor your solution through assessing where you are now (health history, current diet and lifestyle, relevant labs), where you want to go (goals and health markers) and how to get there (through a personalized nutrition and lifestyle plan, individual coaching and support).

Nutrition is complex, as are we as humans. Change takes work. But it can be fun and inspiring work too.

Imagine having your lifestyle and your diet dialed in, knowing that how you are living and what you are eating are enhancing your life and health, not detracting from it.

Without giving up all the foods you love. Without making social gatherings around food awkward. Without trying nutrition tip after nutrition tip blindly in the dark. Without a lot of stress and strain.

Coaching

When is the last time you felt really heard?

The beauty of coaching lies in being heard. Not just by me as your coach, but by you. Finally hearing your own authentic voice, the one that often knows far more about what is best for you than you give it credit for.

There's beauty in finding your own path. In stretching your wings and trying out your own ideas, then adjusting the path of flight as needed as you go along.

Sometimes a guiding hand (or ear) is all we need to get started.

Imagine aging on your terms. Having more control. Approaching it differently. Looking at it from a new perspective.

Does part of you feel you could use some help getting there? We all could use some help sometimes. Imagine getting that help in an environment that is respectful and supportive. Without judgement. In a manner that is collaborative.

You know what's best for you. What works in your life. I'm just here to support you in finding the way there, even if obstacles and uncertainty appear to stand in your way.

Sometimes change, while desired or necessary, isn't easy. I as your coach offer a helping hand through the process of behavior change, to bring you to the results you want.

Coaching isn't therapy. I am by no means a psychotherapist, although I am happy to work as part of a team that includes one.

Coaching to optimize aging doesn't have to focus on nutrition, although my nutrition services incorporate  coaching. Maybe you want to focus on other aspects of your life. Stress management, sleep, physical activity, something else. Maybe you are retiring and not sure what your new focus will be.
